A tour of Jewish Minsk with a visit to the Upper Town, Trinity Suburb (an area of craftsmen, survived synagogue buildings), Rakovsky Suburb (survived synagogue buildings, yeshiva. Ghetto area), monuments "Pit", "Stone Pantheon" (to Jews from Western Europe), "Broken Hearth".
First of all we are going to imagine traditional life of Jews in Minsk: how and where they lived, how and where they earned their bread with butter, where they taught little children and those who could read Torah. We will talk about what streams there are in Judaism, who are the Ashkenazis and Sephardim, what is a kippah and a paisa, what is Shabbat and why on Saturday religious Jews cannot even call a lift, what is Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur, Pesach, Chanukah and other holidays, why the 'Jewish' week begins on Sunday, why children need a bar mitzvah and a bat mitzvah, and how to distinguish between 'kosher' and 'tref' things.
We will visit one of Minsk's three synagogues and learn about the difference between a synagogue and a temple, who the rabbi and cantor are, how many people are needed for public prayer, and about the interior decorations and religious attributes of a working synagogue.
And for those who want to learn about the intricacies of Jewish cuisine, you can order dinner at a kosher restaurant.
I will be happy to meet with you and conduct any of my Experiences.
