Upon your arrival, we will meet you and proceed to the hotel for check-in. We will then embark on a captivating city tour of Addis Ababa. Our first stop is the renowned National Museum of Ethiopia, where you can marvel at the remains of "Lucy," a bipedal hominid who lived 3.2 million years ago. Next, we'll visit the Ethnographic Museum at Addis Ababa University, which houses a fascinating collection of traditional and contemporary artifacts. For lunch, we'll indulge in delicious cuisine at an authentic Ethiopian cultural restaurant, complete with a traditional coffee ceremony. Afterward, we'll visit the Holy Trinity Church, one of Ethiopia's holiest places of worship. Inside, you can witness the awe-inspiring tombs of Emperor Haile Selassie, adorned with magnificent paintings. To conclude the day, we'll head to Entoto for breathtaking panoramic views of Ethiopia's capital city. Finally, we'll take a memorable journey through Merkato, Africa's largest open-air market. Overnight stay at one of the best accommodations or a similar hotel.
In the morning, upon your arrival, we will pick you up from the airport in Addis and drive to Awash National Park, 230 km away, part of the Ethiopian Great Rift Valley. The drive to Awash National Park will take us through volcanic mountains and valleys, and you will witness the lava on both sides of the road, resembling freshly turned earth. We will stop at the beautiful Beseka Lake, which is rich in birdlife. Here, you can see the pink-winged pelican, African fish eagle, saddle-billed stork, and many more birds. This is also the place where you can see the nomadic Kereyu tribe, bringing in large herds of camels for water. In the afternoon, we will proceed to Awash National Park for a possible afternoon game drive and visit the beautiful Awash Falls. We will encounter wildlife such as Beisa oryx, baboons, lesser kudu, warthog, gazelle, and colobus monkeys. If you're lucky, there will be a chance to see some of the big cats.
In the morning, we will have an early game drive around Aledeghi Wildlife Reserve. Here we can expect to see olive baboons, Beisa oryx, Soemmering's gazelle, gerenuk, Grevy's zebra, and waterbucks, perhaps the kori bustard and Arabian bustard, as well as many indigenous birds and more. After our morning game drive, we will drive to Doho Hot Springs, where Doho Lodge is located. It overlooks Doho Lake, which formed as a result of the many hot springs around the area. For the rest of the day, relax around the hot springs. Overnight at Doho Lodge.
Take a drive to Lake Langano, with some stops on the way. Upon your arrival in Langano, check into your room at one of the best resorts, called Sabana Resort. Late in the afternoon, enjoy swimming, bird watching, and the sunset at the beautiful Lake Langano. Overnight at Sabana Resort.
Early in the morning, after breakfast, we will discover Abijatta-Shalla National Park, home to flamingos and many other aquatic ecosystems, with chances to see the largest birds called ostriches. In the late afternoon, continue through the Great Rift Valley to Hawassa and have lunch at the best restaurant. Enjoy a boat cruise on Lake Hawassa, where you can observe birdlife and hippos. Lunch and drinks will be provided on the day trip. Overnight at a hotel in Hawassa.
Early in the morning, after breakfast, drive to Wand Gant, towards Shashamene. Spend a full day walking in the deep forest of Gondo Gant, looking for endemic birds of Ethiopia. Lunch will be at a very unique restaurant. Finally, drive back to Hawassa for an overnight stay.
Early in the morning, after breakfast, drive to the fish market and enjoy unforgettable moments with local experiences. Observe the bird species, especially aquatic birds, and different ways of life. We will stop for lunch and a viewpoint, arriving late in the afternoon at Bale Mountains National Park. The park is an area of high-altitude plateau broken by numerous spectacular volcanic plugs and peaks, beautiful alpine lakes, and rushing mountain streams that descend into deep rocky gorges on their way to the lowlands below. As you ascend into the mountains, you will experience changes in the vegetation with altitude, from juniper forests to heather moorlands and alpine meadows, which at various times of the year exhibit an abundance of colorful wildflowers. Overnight at one of the best accommodations.
After breakfast, take a journey through the beautiful woodland forest with a chance to spot endemic animals. Then continue driving to the Sanetti Plateau region, the largest Afro-alpine region on the African continent. We will trek to Garba Guracha Lake, one of the largest alpine lakes, reaching depths of around 6 meters and named "black lake" in the local language. Situated at a height of over 4000 meters above sea level, we will also drive to the second-highest mountain in Ethiopia, Mount Tullu Dimtu, situated at 4377 meters above sea level, with an opportunity to make the short climb. We continue to the spectacular Afro-alpine moorland with beautiful wild alpine scenery. There is a chance to spot the rare and endangered Ethiopian wolf, Abyssinian hare, and birds of the area such as blue-winged goose, ruddy shelduck, spotted-breasted plover, wattled crane, and more. In the late afternoon, drive back to Goba/Robe for an overnight stay.
Early in the morning, after breakfast, head to the park headquarters. Upon arrival, we will have a brief break and then have the chance to spot animal species such as the endemic mountain nyala and Menelik's bushbuck, as well as reedbucks and common warthogs, all commonly seen in the area around the park headquarters. Bird species seen in the area include the endemic Abyssinian catbird, Abyssinian longclaw, and the white-backed black tit, as well as the wattled ibis, both only found in Ethiopia and Eritrea. We will spend the full day exploring the grasslands and surrounding areas. In the late afternoon, continue driving back for an overnight stay, with camping as a possible option.
After breakfast, continue driving through the African Great Rift Valley, stopping to observe new experiences and ways of life. Enjoy your time with the local community, with lunch on the way and a stop for coffee. Later on, drive to Addis Ababa for departure. Depending on the clients' preferences, we will take our guests to a cultural restaurant before transfer.
