The Church of God Transfiguration in Krevo

The Church of St. John the Baptist in Krevo was one of the first Catholic churches on. It was built in 1387 by order of Jagiello, two years after the conclusion of the krevsk Union (1385). For a long time the building was under the protection of kings, great princes and lords.

In 1440, on the initiative of Casimir Jagiellon in possession of the Church's krew gave farm Loshka Putilovo and in 1468, the Church acquired Koteski and Bakshty. The Church, the feudal lords donated money, land and serfs.

In 1636, the Church was transformed – on the wooden structure appeared tin roof. Inside there were three altars, and the building was decorated with a dome with a cross. Near the temple housed a school, hospital and parsonage.

In 1944, the Church held its first service. With the advent of Soviet power, when the changed attitude towards religion, the Church was closed, and in 1961 it was used as a hospital.
