The memorial complex "Shunevka"

The memorial complex "Lunevka" has gained great popularity among people who come for sightseeing and leisure in Belarus. This monument is included in most tours of the country. Memorial "the Curse of fascism" was established in the place where during the second world war was burned village Sunika with all its inhabitants (Dokshitsy district, Vitebsk region).

From the history

Rudakovskiy Peter S. (Chairman Wiconisco of the village Council before the war) worked for the replenishment of the brigade partisans under the name "ironstone". The guerrillas staged for the Nazis "unsweetened" life, they blew up bridges, they were allowed to derailed trains and tried to stop them to occupy the territory.

The Nazis also took out their anger on civilians, ordinary peasants, old people, women and children. Old people burned in the barn, and children were thrown into wells. Village Lunevka was completely burned together with the people who lived in it. In Katyn in the cemetery of the burned villages there is a grave and Shunichi.

Only 66 civilians were killed in the tragedy. To escape managed only three. Saw the fire and inhabitants of the neighboring villages. Around the well, which killed innocent children, put boulders, which is a symbol of the cruelty of the Nazis.

After the war injured with a bloody hatred of the enemies of Lunevka already not revived. Residents from the surrounding villages decided to open a monument in honor of the victims, but the money in the farm was quite a bit. However, each farmer contributed to this cause, and soon appeared the first monument that stood on the site of the village for many years.

In June 1979, the memorial was unveiled on the initiative of the inhabitants of the neighboring villages, who wanted to perpetuate the memory of the victims of Shunichi and burned villages dokshitsky district. Memorial established folk artists A. A. anikeychik, L. M. Levin and Y. M. Hail was called "the Curse of fascism."

The monument is a bronze figure of a woman height is above 4.5 meters. She stands, lifting the curse's hands, opening gates, which, in turn, reach a height of 11.5 metres. To the horizontal crossbar attached 3 bells, two of them make the sound, and the third split, which symbolizes that during the war in the dokshitsky region has lost every third inhabitant.

Near the main monument is a log of a well in which the Nazis were throwing children. There is a bronze image of a kite that will never fly up in the sky... It's a symbol of how the war interrupted the happy childhood of little people of Belarus. Where there was formerly a farm house located 22 memorial sign, which is a Foundation. Beneath each of the foundations – the porch on the top step of which is a bronze composition having the form of a flame, with the names of those who lived in the house.

Over time, the memorial fell into disrepair, but in 2010 was reconstructed, which significantly altered its state. The memorial complex "Lunevka" has become a mandatory part of tourist routes in Vitebsk region and Belarus, as well as the object of the visit of foreign guests.

In 2010 he restored the foundations of the estates, laid the new tile on the walkways and paved Parking. The monument itself was cleaned with acid, re-colored and was protonirovanie.
