Strochitsy is Belarus ' only Museum of folk architecture and culture under the open sky. The main idea of the Foundation is to present the whole Belarus on a small-sized site. This unique Museum-Skansen was created to showcase and preserve the wood construction, household, promotion of traditions and culture.
The Museum was built on the river Ptich, between villages Ozertso and strochitsa. It consists of three historical and ethnographic regions. They all have their particular way of life and objects, planning and building of settlements.
The history of the Museum of strochitsy
The Museum under the open sky was founded in 1976. It was divided into three ethnographic sections – Central, Poozerye and Dnieper. They can get acquainted with the architectural features of these areas.
At the Museum there is the Pokrovskaya Church of the 18th century, windmill, shed, smithy, sauna, school, theater Batleika, the houses of the poor and rich peasants, that is a real picture of a Belarusian village. The houses and outbuildings are traditional household items, agricultural tools and objects of applied art.
Today Strochitsa
Every year, year in Strochitsa (village Lake) hosts many events, including national holidays "Shrovetide", "Vrbnica", "Kupala" and others, as well as cultural and entertainment event-"teacher's Day", "Last call" and others.
Recently the Museum became very popular open-air festivals: the Folk-fest "Kamancha" and the performances of the world classics.
The Museum is of great interest to people who want to learn more about the history, culture and way of life drevnerusskogo people. All the local buildings of the 19th and 20th centuries remained untouched since that time. You can enter any of the houses and to get acquainted with the life of the peasants.
For tourists here are different types of tours, including a 1.5-3 hour tours with folk songs, fun and costumes as well as ceremonial events ("Belarusian Vasella", "Kalyada", and more).
Guests can visit interesting lectures: Belarusian wedding, ceramic tile, Belarusian tavern and others.
For visitors at the Museum restaurant "Belarusian tavern". Here you can taste delicious dishes of traditional Belarusian cuisine. The territory you can rent a place with tables, benches and grill, and cook kebabs.
