Merchant Poduruyev's House: A window into the past in Chistopol
- Historical splendor: This old merchant's mansion, built at the end of the XIX century, embodies the architectural sophistication of the time. The facades, decorated with eclectic stucco, with Empire motifs and Baroque elements, are a real work of art. The building and the wing are inscribed in the register of architectural monuments of the Republic of Tatarstan.
- Museum of Local Lore: The history of the museum began in 1921, when Alexander Konstantinovich Bulich, an amateur local historian and naturalist, proposed to create a museum of his native land in Chistopol. In an extremely short time, the museum opened its doors to visitors, becoming the beginning of a valuable collection based on Bulich's personal collections.
- Unique exhibits: The museum presents unique archaeological finds, biological and botanical collections, as well as objects of urban life. Some of them – Bulgarian chain mail, spheroconus, carpets from the city school and two wooden bicycles made by a peasant at the beginning of the XX century – recreate the atmosphere of the past.
- Bicycles with a book history: Two wooden bicycles created by Nikolai Ivanovich Melnikov at the beginning of the XX century are unique exhibits. One of them, made in 1902, has the shape of a large wheel with internal pedals and a saddle. The second, manufactured in 1909, is equipped with a special belt drive with a return clutch.
The house of the merchant Poduruyev will become a place where every visitor can plunge into the fascinating past, and the museum will be a shore preserving the richness of the history of Chistopol. Book an excursion with a visit to this place and you will be impressed!
