• The structure of this tower, which dates back to 1658-1659, represents the historical perspective of Yaroslavl. Its walls are permeated with the smell of antiquity, which survived the devastating fires of the XVII century and Peter's reforms of the XVIII century. It served as an outpost at the entrance to the city, creating a powerful fortification of the earthen city, within which the life of old Yaroslavl was raging.
• Elaborately made of brick, the tower is decorated with sharp teeth and narrow loophole windows, protruding in harmony with the fortress structure. In its inner space there was a gate, from where the road to Uglich began. Here, under the protection of stone walls, there was a strelnitsa, an alarm bell and even a small chapel.
• The tower has become not only a symbol of defense, but also a place of special religious significance. Even during the construction, the icon "The Sign" was inscribed in its wall, which was considered miraculous. A chapel was erected in memory of the miracle, and later the Znamenskaya Church appeared in its place.
• Despite its geographical location on the outskirts of the city in the XVII century, the tower was a witness to urban events, serving as a tax collection point and monitoring the entry of goods from local merchants. In the 19th century, she had to adapt to the changes, becoming part of the urban ensemble and succumbing to several perestroika.
• Today, the Vlasyevskaya Tower, merging with the architectural landscape of Yaroslavl, continues its life path, recalling the great history of the city and its most important events. The soul of ancient Yaroslavl is hidden in this building, which can be felt walking along its ancient streets.
