Upon arrival at the park headquarters, we will have a brief break, then have the chance to spot animal species such as the endemic mountain nyala and Menelik's bushbuck, as well as reedbucks and common warthogs, all commonly seen in the area around the park headquarters. Bird species seen in the area include the endemic Abyssinian catbird and Abyssinian longclaw, as well as the white-backed black tit and wattled ibis, both only found in Ethiopia and Eritrea. Overnight is spent at the Dinsho campsite. This morning, after breakfast, we will start the hike from Dinsho to Sodota, hiking for 6 to 7 hours and covering a distance of 18 km across the beautiful landscapes of the National Park. We will pass through beautiful local villages and along the way have the chance to spot the rare and endangered Ethiopian wolf, as well as see seasonal flowers and endemic birdlife. We will have lunch en route at the beautiful Habera waterfall, then continue to Sodota. Before reaching the campsite, we will have a great opportunity to look for endemic species of Ethiopian wolf and some endemic birds. Overnight is spent at the Sodota campsite.
This morning, after breakfast, we will trek for 5 to 7 hours and cover a distance of 16 km across the beautiful landscapes of the National Park, passing through the Kotera Plains region of Bale Mountains National Park. This area is a beautiful pocket of verdant landscapes, thick shrubbery, and picturesque meadows, home to the endemic mountain nyala and Menelik's bushbuck, reaching an altitude of 3400 meters above sea level. At the Adelay campsite, the night is spent in the natural woodland found in this part of the National Park. Overnight is spent at the Adelay campsite.
After breakfast, we will take a one-hour hike to rejoin our vehicle and driver, passing through a beautiful woodland forest with a chance to spot endemic animals. Then we will continue driving via Robe and Goba. After an early morning breakfast, the journey continues as we drive from Dinsho to the Sanetti Plateau region, the largest Afro-alpine region on the African continent, known as the Sanetti Plateau. We will trek to Garba Guracha Lake, one of the largest alpine lakes, reaching a depth of around 6 meters and with a name that means "black lake" in the local language. Situated at a height of over 4000 meters above sea level, we will also drive to the second-highest mountain in Ethiopia, Mount Tullu Dimtu, situated at 4377 meters above sea level, with an opportunity to make the short climb. We continue to the spectacular Afro-alpine moorland with beautiful wild alpine scenery. There is a chance to spot the rare and endangered Ethiopian wolf, Abyssinian hare, and birds of the area such as blue-winged goose, ruddy shelduck, spotted-breasted plover, wattled crane, and more. Overnight is spent at the Sanetti campsite.
Early in the morning, after breakfast, you will have some time for walking and bird watching. Upon arrival in town, you will then be transferred to the airport, marking the end of the tour.
