This tour is suitable for those who are interested in the early history of mankind and are located in Johannesburg. This place should be visited by every tourist. Go on the tour with me and learn a lot new!
A tourist who has arrived in South Africa should definitely know that in 2000 the National Heritage of South Africa became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We will visit the Maropeng Museum. This place has an interesting etymology and history: Maropeng, which can literally be translated as “return to the place of origin”, is the first discovered and thoroughly studied place where the fossils of ancestors of Africans were discovered in 1924.
We will not only learn everything about the museum located here, but also see with our own eyes the Sterkfontein Caves where hominids once lived. Many specialists in the field of archeology and history rightly consider the Caves to be one of the most valuable archaeological sites in the history of mankind. This place is conveniently located: just one hour by car from Johannesburg. No wonder it is extremely popular with tourists.
Mankind owes this place to the discovery of famous fossils, including the remains of the hominids "Little Foot", as well as "Mrs Ples". Serious repairs have been carried out in the caves, now it will be easier for us to get into the caves and look at the sites of former archaeological excavations from a great height.
Included: entrance fees, transfer, guide, water and snacks.
Lunch is not included. Ask me where we will have an opportunity to eat during the tour.
