Embark on an epic 5-day journey through the stunning Marangu Route of Mount Kilimanjaro, where you'll experience the thrill of conquering the highest point in Africa. Trek through diverse landscapes and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Tanzania as you challenge yourself to reach the summit. Join us for an unforgettable adventure that will push you to your limits and reward you with incredible views and a sense of accomplishment like no other.
Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival, цу will meet you at the airport and take you to the Chanya Lodge in Moshi, which is a bed and breakfast hotel.
You will have a briefing during which I will provide all necessary information about the Marangu Route, also known as the Coca-Cola route, which is popular due to its short duration.
Day 1:
We depart Moshi in the morning and drive for 45 minutes to Kilimanjaro National Park, passing through Marangu. We'll have to wait for climbing permits due to high demand.
Meanwhile, admire African flora and fauna, take pictures and listen to my stories about nature.
The initial ascent can be slippery and muddy, so trekking poles are recommended. We will go through the amazing rainforest for 5-7 hours and overnight at a camp.
Day 2:
After breakfast, we leave the African forest for the barren moorlands. The landscape features small shrubs and we will stop for a snack while admiring the Mawenzi Peak view.
We'll arrive at Horombo Hut in the evening, where you can observe Kibo Peak from an excellent lookout point. Temperatures become colder in this area. Overnight at Horombo Hut.
Day 3:
We wake up and continue our journey through the heather plain to a wide saddle that connectsKibo and Mawenzi.
We'll stop for lunch and then proceed, enjoying a view of Kibo Peak. Mentally preparing for the challenging ascent ahead, we press on. Sleep at a camp.
Day 4:
On the 4th day, we enter the final and most challenging stage of the ascent between midnight and 2 am. It won't be easy, but with teamwork and determination, we'll reach the summit. We'll head to Cape Gillmans on the crater's edge. The sunrise at this spot will be the most beautiful reward. Congratulations, we have conquered the famous Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa!
We'll descend to Horombo Hut, stopping for lunch and a short rest. This is our last evening in the mountains, so enjoy it. We'll spend the night at the Hut.
Day 5:
We start the day with breakfast and a team ceremony, then head down to Mandara Huts for lunch. We'll say goodbye to our porters and cooks.
After descending to Marangu Gate, we'll receive a climbing certificate and take a car back to Moshi, journey takes about 30 minutes. Back at the hotel, enjoy the comforts of civilization like hot showers. Overnight at Chanya Lodge B&B.
