Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, our representative will greet you and transfer you to Chanya Lodge B&B for a comfortable overnight stay.
Get ready for the Rongai route. It offers a unique and less crowded approach to Kilimanjaro from the north.
Day 1:
From Moshi, a scenic 4–5-hour drive takes you through coffee plantations to the Kilimanjaro National Park.
While waiting for permits for our trip, enjoy the beautiful wooded scenery and learn about the local flora, fauna, and potential wildlife sightings from your guide.
We will head through the rainforest and overnight at the Simba Camp, located near the First Cave, offers stunning views of the Kenyan plains.
Day 2:
After a restful night's sleep and a satisfying breakfast, we resume our trek on the moorland terrain, steadily ascending along a well-defined path.
As you ascend, be prepared to be mesmerized by magnificent Kibo Peak and catch your first glimpse of the glistening ice fields adorning the Eastern crater rim.
The lush shrubs of the moorland gradually give way to sparser vegetation as you approach the Second Cave.
Additionally, you'll notice a drop in temperatures, adding to the exhilarating experience of the journey.
We will overnight at the Second Cave Camp.
Day 3:
Following a hearty breakfast and the completion of your packing, you embark on a steady ascent across the captivating land, setting your sights on the striking peak of Mawenzi.
This leg of the journey brings you closer to the awe-inspiring Eastern ice fields, captivating your attention with their sheer beauty.
It is crucial to listen to your body and communicate any indications of altitude sickness to your knowledgeable guide, ensuring your well-being throughout the trek. Overnight at the Kikelewa Camp.
Day 4:
Embark on a brief yet invigorating ascent up the lush grassy slopes, and be prepared to be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views.
As you leave the vegetation behind, a magnificent sight awaits you at the Mawenzi Tarn Camp. Upon arrival, you'll have the afternoon free to either rest and rejuvenate or explore the surrounding area, aiding in your acclimatization process. Overnight at this camp.
Day 5:
Traverse the otherworldly expanse of the lunar desert, which lies between the towering peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo. Your path leads you to the Kibo Camp.
Once you arrive, take the remainder of the day to rest and recharge, making vital preparations for the ultimate ascent during Summit Night. This crucial period of repose ensures you are physically and mentally ready for the awe-inspiring final push towards the summit.
Day 6:
Excitement builds as morning breaks with an early start between midnight and 2 a.m. We embark on the most challenging part of the trek, heading towards the summit between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers.
Our focus remains on the sense of accomplishment that lies ahead. With a switchback motion, we ascend towards Stella Point on the crater rim, witnessing a magnificent sunrise during a short rest. Those faster may see the sunrise from the summit.
From here, it's a one-hour ascent to Uhuru Peak, encountering snow along the way. Congratulations! You've reached the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and Africa!
After celebrating and taking photos, we begin the steep descent to Mweka Camp, stopping briefly at Kibo Hut for lunch. Rest well and enjoy your last evening on the mountain at Mweka Camp.
Day 7:
After a heartfelt breakfast and a meaningful crew appreciation ceremony, it's time to bid farewell. We begin our descent, pausing for lunch at the Mandara Huts.
Upon reaching the Marangu Gate, you will receive your well-earned summit certificates. As the weather becomes warmer, be prepared for wet, muddy, and steep terrain. Gaiters and trekking poles are highly recommended.
From the gate, a vehicle will be waiting to transport you back to your hotel in Moshi, approximately a 45-minute drive. Finally, indulge in a long overdue hot shower, savor a delicious dinner, and celebrate your remarkable achievement!
Departure day:
The journey comes to an end; you will be escorted to the Kilimanjaro airport or any other place you need.
Included in the trekking package: lead guide, assistant guides, english speaking & wilderness first responder trained cook, porters, equipment; sleeping mat, 2-inch foam pillow, walk-in dining tent and table backed chairs, wash basins with hot water each morning and evening; three meals per day & afternoon snack during the trek, vegetarian, vegan and gluten free upon request, treated drinking water (minimum of 3L per day while trekking with additional water available at camp), coffee and tea during the trek, pulse oximeter, first aid kit, emergency oxygen; Kilimanjaro National Park fees and VAT, camping/hut, rescue, conservation and taxes; pre-trek briefing with your guide; accommodation (please contact us about the type of accommodation at each hotel and camp or any other questions related to it), transfer.
Excluded: gratuities/tips, personal trekking gear such as sleeping bag and clothing, favored beverages (soda and alcohol at hotels, additional accommodation or meals resulting from early descent, Tanzania entry visa, travel insurance, flights, expenses of a personal nature.
Tipping is customary on Mount Kilimanjaro for all members of your mountain crew. They receive a fair wage, they rely on tips for a total fair compensation. Tips for the team (guide, assistant guide, cook and porters). Industry recommendations are $20 a day to the guide, $15 a day to your assistance guide and cook, $8 a day to each of your porters divided by everyone during the trip.
