Embark on a journey of a lifetime as you conquer the highest peak in Africa, Mt. Kilimanjaro, via the challenging Machame Route. You will arrive at the first destination, the Kilimanjaro International Airport. After that, we will be transferred to the Chanya Lodge.
Day 1:
Our first stop will be at the Machame Camp, where we will spend our first night on the mountain. The camp is situated at an altitude of 3,000 meters above sea level and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. We will have dinner and rest here, getting ready for the next day's journey towards the Shira Plateau.
The climb will be challenging, but we will be accompanied by experienced guides and porters who will help us along the way. This is just the beginning of our adventure, and we are excited to see what lies ahead on this amazing journey up Kilimanjaro.
Day 2:
We get up in the morning and have a good breakfast. Then we pack up and move up from the forest, the path goes along a steep rocky ridge.
A little later, we will turn west to reach the gorge of the ancient river, from where our path leads to the Shira campsite. At this point, the air temperature first begins to decrease. We will spend the night at the camp.
Day 3:
This will be a long day of hiking, but the stunning views of the mountain and surrounding landscape will make it all worth it. The Barranco camp is situated at an altitude of 3,900 meters and is known for its beautiful views of the Barranco Wall. We will have dinner and rest here, preparing ourselves for the next day's climb up the wall.
We will continue to support every your step, ensuring that we are safe and comfortable throughout our journey up Kilimanjaro. We are excited to continue our adventure and see what lies ahead on this amazing journey.
We will spend the night at the camp.
Day 4:
The day starts with a hearty breakfast and then our group continues up the steep Barranco wall from where we reach the Karanga Valley.
Further, a crossroads will arise in front of us, which connects to the Mweka trail. We are waiting for a lot of interesting and unforgettable trials that we will overcome together, gathering all our strength into a fist. Overnight at Karanga camp.
Day 5:
Today marks a significant milestone as we approach the South Circuit. Our journey towards Barafu persists, and we are treated to several awe-inspiring vistas of the mountain's peak.
As we retire for the night on the 5th day, we dine early and get ready for the ascent. Our resting place for the evening will be at the Barafu camp.
Day 6:
We'll start our ascent early and push through challenges as we head towards Ratzel and Rebmann glaciers. We'll then move northwest to the Stella point for the reward of a breathtaking sunrise.
After about an hour, we'll reach the highest point on the African continent – the Uhuru peak! We'll descend to Mweka camp, stopping for lunch and rest in Barafu.
It will be our final night in the mountains, so let's savor it. We'll spend the night at Mweka camp.
Day 7:
After breakfast, we'll have a gratitude ceremony before saying goodbye to the team. We'll then descend to the Mweka Gate to receive our climbing certificates. The climate is milder here, but the terrain is still wet and slippery, so trekking poles and leggings are recommended.
Our car will be waiting at the park gate to take you to the Moshi hotel, which is about a 30-minute drive away. Enjoy dinner and celebrations at the hotel, where you'll spend the night before heading home, on a safari, or a new trip to Zanzibar.
Departure day:
We will leave for the airport, where you will board your plane home.
Included in the trekking package: lead guide, assistant guides, english speaking & wilderness first responder trained cook, porters, equipment; sleeping mat, 2-inch foam pillow, walk-in dining tent and table backed chairs, wash basins with hot water each morning and evening; three meals per day & afternoon snack during the trek, vegetarian, vegan and gluten free upon request, treated drinking water (minimum of 3L per day while trekking with additional water available at camp), coffee and tea during the trek, pulse oximeter, first aid kit, emergency oxygen; Kilimanjaro National Park fees and VAT, camping/hut, rescue, conservation and taxes; pre-trek briefing with your guide; accommodation.
Excluded: gratuities/tips, personal trekking gear such as sleeping bag and clothing, favored beverages (soda and alcohol at hotels, additional accommodation or meals resulting from early descent, Tanzania entry visa, travel insurance, flights, expenses of a personal nature.
Tipping is customary on Mount Kilimanjaro for all members of your mountain crew. They receive a fair wage, they rely on tips for a total fair compensation. Tips for the team (guide, assistant guide, cook and porters) – Industry recommendations are $20 a day to the guide, $15 a day to your assistance guide and cook $8 a day to each of your porters divided by everyone in trip.
