Embark on an unforgettable adventure in Tanzania with our 8-day Lemosho Route trek. Hike through diverse terrain and experience the natural beauty of Africa like never before. Join us on this journey and discover what makes the Lemosho Route one of the most sought-after treks in the world.
We will meet you at Kilimanjaro Airport and take you to Chanya Lodge for check-in.
We'll then have a briefing and equipment check before starting our ascent via the Lemosho Route, which offers stunning views and a unique experience through inhospitable moorlands and overnight at a Lodge in Moshi.
Day 1:
After leaving Moshi, our journey to Kilimanjaro will take less than an hour. We'll pass small villages on the route to the gates of the Kilimanjaro National Park.
At the gates, we'll wait for our group to receive permission to climb, which may take some time due to the large number of climbers.
During the trek, we'll share information about the local flora and fauna, rare animals, and the fascinating wildlife in the area. For this part of the trek.
Overnight at the Shira Camp 1.
Day 2:
We will start a new day with new challenges! We are leaving the rainforest to begin our ascent. Our group will soon reach the edge of the Shira Plateau, where temperature begin to drop for the first time.
Overnight at the Shira Camp 2.
Day 3:
The 3rd day we will completely devote to the study of the Shira Plateau. On the way, we will reach the Kibo Glacier to cross a plateau that will take us straight to Moir Hat in the moorland, not far from the stream.
Next, the trail will take us towards Moir Hat. Upon arrival at the site, you will have the opportunity to catch your breath and take a walk for a smoother acclimatization. This is a beautiful place with picturesque landscapes. Overnight at Moir Hat.
Day 4:
We'll be finishing today at the same altitude as yesterday to make acclimatization smoother. Our group is heading east from the Shira Plateau, crossing Lava Tower.
Afterwards, we'll reach a new intersection and head towards the Arrow Glacier. We'll descend to the Barranco Camp where we'll rest and spend the night.
Day 5:
The day begins with a satisfying breakfast, after which our group ascends the steep Barranco Wall until we reach the Karanga Valley.
Ahead, we'll encounter a crossroads that connects to the Mweka Route. We'll face many interesting and unforgettable challenges.
We'll spend the night at the Karanga Camp.
Day 6:
On the 6th day, our group will continue moving towards the Barafu Camp. We'll have a lot of beautiful views of the mountain top from various angles.
In the evening, we'll have an early dinner and go to bed earlier than usual to prepare for the next night climb. We'll spend the night at the Barafu Camp.
Day 7:
We'll start climbing the mountain early, around 2 a.m. We'll face challenges as we make our way towards the Ratzel and Rebmann Glaciers, and then move northwest towards Stella Point on the crater's edge. Our reward for this climb will be the stunning sunrise, one of the most beautiful in the entire continent.
Congratulations! We've finally conquered the famous Uhuru Peak, the highest point on the African continent!
We'll now descend towards the Mweka Camp, stopping at Barafu for lunch and a short break. This night will be our last evening in the mountains, so let's savor it! We'll rest overnight at the Mweka Camp.
Day 8:
After breakfast and a gratitude ceremony, we'll say goodbye to our team and begin our descent to the Mweka Gate to receive our climbing certificates. The climate here is milder, but the terrain can be slippery.
A car will be waiting for us at the gate to take you back to the hotel in Moshi, which should take about half an hour. You'll enjoy dinner and celebrate our accomplishment at the hotel before spending the night there.
